REFLECTION

The brush cries in despair
as it is mashed unceremoniously
against a toothy frown –
Comb squeezed to death
and ripped through wavy locks, leaving
pieces in its angry wake –
Dark pencil fluttering agitatedly
against the most sensitive of skins
trying not to overdose –
Begging coming from glossy lips
murmuring prayers and supplications
under bated breath –
"Mirror mirror on the wall..."
but unsatisfied as always
tiny fists tremble
with uncontained rage –
Eyes squinting past their 20/20
searching for what can't be sought
unrepentant of their  futile quest –
"...I hope you shatter."
Small sneaker-clad feet
make steps that echo like a slap in the face
shutting the bathroom door with a bang.
